Abstract
Under certain conditions, the effect of hydrodynamic dispersion is relatively weak, so that an abrupt interface approximation can be used in studying seawater intrusion in coastal aquifers. In this paper the boundary element method and a Hcle-Shaw model are used for numerical simulation. The influence factors on the interface movement are analyzed. A main feature of the nonstationary interface, slowly inlandward advance and rapidly seaward return, is introduced and can be applied to groundwater resources management and protection.
