Unsteady one-dimensional numerical model for alluvial rivers with heavy sediment load and its applications

  • An unsteady one-dimensional numerical model was developed for the simulation of flood routine and alluvial process of rivers with heavy sediment load.In this model,the basic equations and relations for sediment transport were modified to cope with hyper-concentrated flow.To avoid non-physical oscillation caused by sharply changed channel geometry and intensive erosion/deposition,the governing equations were discreted in staggered grid and a TVD scheme was adopt to obtain numerical solution.Applications of the model were also presented in this paper.
