Numerical simulation of three-dimensional flow for spillway containing frusta

  • The numerical simulation of three-dimensional flow for spillway containing frusta is presented in this paper by means of the finite volume method.Turbulence is simulated with the κ turbulence models and the waterline is determined by the VOF method.In order to investigate the feasibility of the proposed method,the numerical models are applied to type-2 and -3 frusta.The results show the flow spillway,the waterline and the surface pressure of the three water surface heights.And the experimental results validate the simulate results,which shows that the proposed method can simulate exactly three-dimensional flow for spillway containing frusta give advice on the design for spillways.
